Our cover picture shows River Red gums (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) along the Heysen trail in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. The 1,200 kilometre hiking Heysen Trail passes through some of the most scenic parts of the state including national parks, state forests and internationally acclaimed tourist destinations, including the Barossa Valley and the stunning Wilpena Pound. Sir Hans Heysen OBE (1877-1968) was a German-born Australian artist. He became a household name for his watercolours of monumental Australian gum trees. Heysen also produced images of men and animals toiling in the Australian bush, as well as depictions of arid landscapes in the Flinders Ranges. Photo © Justin Welbergen
